The difference between Portrait and Profile

When used as nouns, portrait means a painting or other picture of a person, especially the head and shoulders, whereas profile means the outermost shape, view, or edge of an object.

When used as verbs, portrait means to portray, whereas profile means to create a summary or collection of information about (a person, etc.).


Portrait is also adjective with the meaning: representing the actual features of an individual.
