The difference between Plot and Scheme

When used as nouns, plot means the course of a story, comprising a series of incidents which are gradually unfolded, sometimes by unexpected means, whereas scheme means a systematic plan of future action.

When used as verbs, plot means to conceive (a crime, etc), whereas scheme means to plot, or contrive a plan.
