The difference between Litigant and Plaintiff
When used as nouns, litigant means a party suing or being sued in a lawsuit, or otherwise calling upon the judicial process to determine the outcome of a suit, whereas plaintiff means a party bringing a suit in civil law against a defendant.
Litigant is also adjective with the meaning: disposed to litigate.
