The difference between Initiate and Trigger
When used as nouns, initiate means a new member of an organization, whereas trigger means a finger-operated lever used to fire a gun.
When used as verbs, initiate means to begin, whereas trigger means to fire a weapon.
Initiate is also adjective with the meaning: unpractised.
