The difference between Infant and Newborn

When used as nouns, infant means a very young human being, from birth to somewhere between six months and two years of age, needing almost constant care and/or attention, whereas newborn means a recently born baby.


Infant is also verb with the meaning: to bear or bring forth (a child).

Newborn is also adjective with the meaning: recently born.
