The difference between Hostel and Pension
When used as nouns, hostel means a commercial overnight lodging place, with dormitory accommodation and shared facilities, especially a youth hostel, whereas pension means an annuity paid regularly as benefit due to a retired employee, serviceman etc. in consideration of past services, originally and chiefly by a government but also by various private pension schemes.
When used as verbs, hostel means to stay in a hostel as part of a travel, whereas pension means to grant a pension to.
