The difference between Haulm and Thatch
When used as nouns, haulm means the stems of various cultivated plants, left after harvesting the crop to be used as animal litter or for thatching, whereas thatch means straw, rushes, or the like, used for making or covering the roofs of buildings, or of stacks of hay or grain.
Thatch is also verb with the meaning: to cover the roof with straw, reed, leaves, etc.
