The difference between Gas and Gasoline
When used as nouns, gas means matter in a state intermediate between liquid and plasma that can be contained only if it is fully surrounded by a solid (or in a bubble of liquid) (or held together by gravitational pull), whereas gasoline means a flammable liquid consisting of a mixture of refined petroleum hydrocarbons, mainly used as a motor fuel.
When used as adjectives, gas means comical, zany, whereas gasoline means made from or using gasoline.
Gas is also verb with the meaning: to kill with poisonous gas.
