The difference between Flip and Toss
When used as nouns, flip means a maneuver which rotates an object end over end, whereas toss means a throw, a lob, of a ball etc., with an initial upward direction, particularly with a lack of care.
When used as verbs, flip means to throw (as in to turn over), whereas toss means to throw with an initial upward direction.
Flip is also interjection with the meaning: used to express annoyance, especially when the speaker has made an error.
Flip is also adjective with the meaning: having the quality of playfulness, or lacking seriousness of purpose.
