The difference between Fatuous and Inane
When used as adjectives, fatuous means obnoxiously stupid, vacantly silly, content in one's foolishness, whereas inane means lacking sense or meaning (often to the point of boredom or annoyance).
Inane is also noun with the meaning: that which is void or empty.
