The difference between Father and Grandfather

When used as nouns, father means a (generally human) male who begets a child, whereas grandfather means a father of someone's parent.

When used as verbs, father means to be a father to, whereas grandfather means to retain existing laws or rules only for people or organizations previously affected by them, and to apply new laws or rules to the unaffected people or organizations.
