The difference between Excise and Excise tax
When used as nouns, excise means a tax charged on goods produced within the country (as opposed to customs duties, charged on goods from outside the country), whereas excise tax means any of various taxes levied on the production or sale of certain goods, especially on luxuries, tobacco, alcohol etc.
Excise is also verb with the meaning: to impose an excise tax on something.
