The difference between Exacerbate and Exasperate

When used as verbs, exacerbate means to make worse (a problem, bad situation, negative feeling, etc.), whereas exasperate means to tax the patience of, irk, frustrate, vex, provoke, annoy.


Exasperate is also adjective with the meaning: exasperated.
