The difference between Dot and Speck
When used as nouns, dot means a small spot, whereas speck means a tiny spot, especially of dirt etc.
When used as verbs, dot means to cover with small spots (of some liquid), whereas speck means to mark with specks.
Dot is also preposition with the meaning: dot product of the previous vector and the following vector.
