The difference between Done and Finished

When used as adjectives, done means ready, fully cooked, whereas finished means processed or perfected.

Done as an adjective (of food):

Ready, fully cooked.

Examples:

"As soon as the potatoes are done we can sit down and eat."
Done as an adjective:

Having completed or finished an activity.

Examples:
