The difference between Deoxyribose and Pentose
When used as nouns, deoxyribose means a derivative of the pentose sugar ribose in which the 2' hydroxyl (-oh) is reduced to a hydrogen (h), whereas pentose means a sugar or saccharide containing five carbon atoms.
