The difference between Deke and Fake

When used as nouns, deke means a feint, fake, or other move made by the player with the puck to deceive a goaltender or defenceman, whereas fake means something which is not genuine, or is presented fraudulently.

When used as verbs, deke means to avoid, go around, or dodge an object, person, or conversation topic, whereas fake means to cheat.


Fake is also adjective with the meaning: not real.
