The difference between Consolidate and Defragment
When used as verbs, consolidate means to combine into a single unit, whereas defragment means to run a process that collects fragments of files and sorts them into contiguous sections on one or more hard disks or hard disk partitions, thus speeding up file management.
Consolidate is also adjective with the meaning: formed into a solid mass.
