The difference between Compound and Pen

When used as nouns, compound means an enclosure within which workers, prisoners, or soldiers are confined, whereas pen means an enclosed area used to contain domesticated animals, especially sheep or cattle.

When used as verbs, compound means to form (a resulting mixture) by combining different elements, ingredients, or parts, whereas pen means to enclose in a pen.
