The difference between Column and Pillar
When used as nouns, column means a solid upright structure designed usually to support a larger structure above it, such as a roof or horizontal beam, but sometimes for decoration, whereas pillar means a large post, often used as supporting architecture.
Pillar is also verb with the meaning: to provide with pillars or added strength as if from pillars.
