The difference between Collect and Construe
When used as nouns, collect means the prayer said before the reading of the epistle lesson, especially one found in a prayerbook, as with the book of common prayer, whereas construe means a translation.
When used as verbs, collect means to gather together, whereas construe means to interpret or explain the meaning of something.
Collect is also adverb with the meaning: with payment due from the recipient.
Collect is also adjective with the meaning: to be paid for by the recipient, as a telephone call or a shipment.
