The difference between Chinchilla and Rodent

When used as nouns, chinchilla means either of two small, crepuscular rodents of the genus chinchilla, native to the andes, prized for their very soft fur and often kept as pets, whereas rodent means a mammal of the order rodentia, characterized by long incisors that grow continuously and are worn down by gnawing.
