The difference between Calendar and Calends

When used as nouns, calendar means any system by which time is divided into days, weeks, months, and years, whereas calends means the first day of a month, particularly of the months of the roman calendar.


Calendar is also verb with the meaning: to set a date for a proceeding in court, usually done by a judge at a calendar call.
