The difference between Blend and Portmanteau
When used as nouns, blend means a mixture of two or more things, whereas portmanteau means a large travelling case usually made of leather, and opening into two equal sections.
When used as verbs, blend means to mingle, whereas portmanteau means to make a portmanteau word.
Portmanteau is also adjective with the meaning: made by combining two (or more) words, stories, etc., in the manner of a linguistic portmanteau.
