The difference between Biological mother and Surrogate mother

When used as nouns, biological mother means the woman from whom one inherits half of one's dna and who is the source of one's mitochondrial dna, whereas surrogate mother means a woman who gives birth to a child not her own, with the intent to give that child up to at least one of the biological parents once it is born.
