The difference between Beryl and Emerald

When used as nouns, beryl means a mineral of pegmatite deposits, often used as a gemstone, whereas emerald means any of various green gemstones, especially a green transparent form of beryl, highly valued as a precious stone.

When used as adjectives, beryl means of a dull blueish green colour, whereas emerald means of a rich green colour.
