The difference between Asylum seeker and Immigrant

When used as nouns, asylum seeker means a person who has applied for asylum in a foreign country but has not yet been granted refugee status by that country, whereas immigrant means a person who comes to a country from another country in order to permanently settle there.


Immigrant is also adjective with the meaning: of or relating to immigrants or the act of immigrating.
