The difference between Archive and Repository
When used as nouns, archive means a place for storing earlier, and often historical, material. an archive usually contains documents (letters, records, newspapers, etc.) or other types of media kept for historical interest, whereas repository means a storage location for files, such as downloadable software packages, or files in a source control system.
Archive is also verb with the meaning: to put into an archive.
