The difference between Airport and Landing strip

When used as nouns, airport means an airfield (an area designated for the takeoff and landing of aircraft), including one or more runways and (for commercial airports) one or more passenger terminals, whereas landing strip means a runway for aircraft, especially one which is auxiliary or temporary.
